Trying To Look Wonderful This Winter!

Autumn has not been kind to me so far. I seem to be rushing here, there and everywhere with barely a minute to spare for any kind of "me time".  I admit that I have never been one for an intensive beauty regime but I really feel a state at the moment. My hair is lank and lifeless, my skin is pale and dry and reports that the Yeti has finally been discovered alive an
d well in Hertfordshire are probably down to my very under-plucked eyebrows!

So I've decided to try and pep myself up a bit both inside and out. Like most busy mums I don't have much time so here are some ideas for a quick-fix winter beauty regime.

1. Start from the inside.
To look really great on the outside you do need to focus on what you are putting into your body. When the weather is cold and you don't have a spare minute it's difficult to eat healthily all the time so you can give yourself a helping hand by taking some vitamins. I really love the chewable vitamins from Bassets as you can fool yourself that you are having a sweet too and they are very tasty. Floradix iron formula is also a great tonic if you are feeling tired.

2. Keep lips luscious.
Winter is trouble for lips. Cold sores abound and wind and cold cause lips to chap which can look really unsightly. Slicking on a bit of lip balm is a great way to protect your skin and it adds a healthy shimmer to your face. Carmex do a great range of lipbalms which have even been recommended by the Guardian newspaper.

3. Protect your hands
Soft hands with lovely nails are always in fashion but this can take some effort in the colder months. The most obvious solution is to get yourself a good pair of gloves. This year I invested in a really good pair - even though they were more expensive than usual they will keep my hands warm and prevent them getting chapped. Alternatively a good cream such as Norwegian Formula works really well at keeping hands looking healthy.

4. Shop Online
I think the number one excuse for me (and probably a lot of mums) is that they just don't have the time to get to the shops to buy the right products. Certainly shopping for beauty products with a three year old is not the most relaxing experience. That's why it's a great idea to buy online. Sites such as can provide a one stop shop for all your beauty and vitamin needs - and you don't even have to leave the house!
